Mary & May Vitamin B, C, E Cleansing Balm 120g is an oil-based Korean first cleanser developed to remove makeup, sunscreen, excess sebum and daily oil-soluble impurities without relying on aggressive rubbing. Its sherbet-like balm texture melts on contact with dry skin, transforms into a silky cleansing oil and emulsifies into a milky liquid when water is added.

The formula uses Ethylhexyl Palmitate and Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride as emollient cleansing agents. These ingredients help loosen foundation, sunscreen, lipstick, surface sebum and other oil-based residue so they can be emulsified and rinsed away.

Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate functions as the formula’s primary emulsifier. It allows the melted oils and dissolved impurities to combine with water, creating a milky emulsion that can be rinsed from the skin more effectively.

The cleansing balm contains 5,000 ppm ascorbic acid, commonly known as vitamin C. Vitamin C provides antioxidant and radiance-focused formula support. Because cleansing balm is rinsed away after a short contact period, it should not be presented as a replacement for a leave-on vitamin C serum.

Panthenol is included at 1,000 ppm. Also known as provitamin B5, panthenol provides soothing, moisturizing and skin-conditioning support. It complements the cleansing base and helps maintain a more comfortable after-cleansing feel.

Tocopherol, or vitamin E, is included at 1,000 ppm. It provides antioxidant support and complements the balm’s emollient oils. Vitamin E also helps condition the skin during the cleansing process.

Shea butter adds richness to the sherbet texture and provides emollient care. It helps reduce the overly dry or tight feeling that can occur after removing long-wear makeup and sunscreen.

Olive fruit oil supports the cleansing balm’s ability to dissolve oil-soluble impurities. It also provides antioxidant and skin-softening properties, contributing to a nourished finish.

The formula contains grapefruit, acerola, pomegranate, apple, lemon and grape fruit extracts. These ingredients complement the product’s antioxidant and conditioning positioning, although their benefits should be considered supportive in a rinse-off formula.

Orange juice, orange fruit water, orange flower extract and other citrus-derived ingredients are also present. Customers with citrus-sensitive or highly reactive skin should patch test the balm before applying it across the face.

The balm may be suitable for normal, dry, combination and makeup-wearing skin. Oily or acne-prone skin can also use a cleansing balm, but it should be emulsified thoroughly and followed with an appropriate second cleanser when necessary.

Ethylhexyl Palmitate and richer emollients may not suit every congestion-prone complexion. Customers who frequently develop closed comedones should patch test and monitor how their skin responds.
